A launch of faith

Meredith Borel
Meredith Borel is a graduate of Josiah Project Team 8 and our Director of Global Initiatives. She oversees the re:mix young adult conference, which has a global emphasis, and many of RTW’s communications.

Four years ago, God ignited a fire of love in me for Muslim people. I can’t explain it, it just started suddenly and mysteriously, in the midst of a season of a lot of prayer. And it impelled me to action. I went to the Middle East, to actually meet some Muslims, and guess what? I found not one single terrorist. Instead I found the most lovely and hospitable people I’d ever met. I was embraced, and fed, befriended, and fed, loved, and fed. (The food was great, but was I stuffed!) In the process, my heart began to break for them, especially the young adults. I was filled with a desire for them to know the love and freedom that we know in Jesus.

In the summer of 2006, I visited Lebanon and experienced a harsher side of the Middle East. I was caught in Beirut in a war for 10 days. The war was certainly frightening, but it didn’t turn me off to the region or the people. In fact, the opposite occurred…my heart and love for them deepened.

Today, the flame of love for Muslims has still not gone out. I’ve got a few things to walk through before I’ll be ready to go back, but in the meantime, God’s putting me to work. I am ministering to young adults through Rock the World and the re:mix young adult conference, as I have done for several years. (I am especially looking forward to this coming re:mix because Shane & Shane are leading worship!)

This fall, I will also be serving the practical needs of immigrants – including Muslims – by teaching English as a Second Language.

God has also challenged me to a “launch of faith.” I am launching into a new ministry of teaching and training through All Nations’ Church Planting Experience (CPx). I did this training program myself 2 years ago. It is the “on-ramp” for anyone who wants to be a long-term missionary through All Nations. It’s a life-altering program – the training is top-notch and the mentoring and coaching is invaluable.

I will be teaching on topics such as Islam, contextualization, insights from missions history, and redemptive analogies in world cultures. What I like most about this is the “multiplication factor” – one of Rock the World’s core values. By training others in what God has already imparted to me, the impact multiplies and grows exponentially.

Please pray with me that my work with CPx will have a big impact, and that it will grow the partnership between All Nations and Rock the World. Also pray that God will raise up partners to invest in this ministry to meet my modest budget. To learn more about partnering, click here. I appreciate your prayers and look forward to how God will multiply his Kingdom through this launch of faith!
