My name is Cecilia, and I was at the camp in Bolivia where
Meredith Borel taught Striking Fire - Rock the World's youth ministry training seminar - this
month. It was a huge blessing to my life! I learned so much about how to better
organize a youth group and how having youth involved in the church is not an
obstacle but actually an opportunity! I was also very encouraged to be more intentional in youth ministry.
The workshop was very hands-on. It gave me many ideas to use in the future, and
we actually practiced some of the things we will be doing in our groups. It is
so awesome how the Lord connects us event through cultural differences - I
identified so much with Meredith and I thank God for all the material and
teaching we received from her.
Blessings,

Raising up workers for the Harvest
By Meredith Borel, Director of Global Initiatives
In January I headed south to pursue Rock the World's
mission: multiplying young Christian leaders. First, I trained 20 youth leaders
from across the Anglican Diocese of Bolivia by teaching a Striking Fire seminar at their Annual Camp. I
commissioned these leaders to change their mindset from youth ministers to
youth missionaries, who go out into their communities to seek out young people and
introduce them to Jesus.
Let me introduce you to some of the young Christian
leaders of Bolivia...
Olga
is a young
leader of a brand-new youth group! She is excited to build something
new, but also grieving the recent death of her Uncle. I prayed for
her and the Lord began a work of healing in her heart.
Manoly is an up and coming
leader who deeply desires to serve Jesus with everything. I got to pray for him
as he asked God for the courage to follow, even if it means making tough
decisions like letting go of a less-than-healthy relationship.
Cecilia is amazing. She is
called to be a missionary, and is passionately pursuing that call. When I
prayed for her, I saw her as a lighthouse, drawing others to safe harbor in
God. She and I hope to do missions together someday!

After Bolivia, I headed to Lima, Peru, where I taught a
Global Missions class at Ss. Agustin Seminary (directed
by Rev Allen Hill, Josiah Project Team 1). My friend Orlando Otarola (Global
Teams) was my co-teacher. For one week, we taught 35 leaders of the Anglican
Church in Peru about the 10-40 Window, unreached people groups, world
religions, challenges to mission, and how to get involved themselves.
I got a lot of great feedback from students who
were stirred to pray and serve and even
one woman who wants to go. This is really significant coming from folks
who had hardly considered missions beyond their own borders before.
As I left Peru, another Rock the World team was just arriving! A group from Ambridge Youth Ignite
spent the next 10 days sharing Jesus through a Sports and Arts camp at
one of the needier Anglican Churches in Lima. Keep an eye out for next
month's Mission Link for a full report on all the awesome things God did in Peru through Ambridge Youth Ignite! |
