Youth Ministry Job Search Tools
Looking for a job in youth ministry? Looking for a youth minister? Rock the World has some things we hope will help meet your need:
1) Tools to use in your search
Rock the World has developed 2 tools that help churches and youth ministers determine whether they might be a good match: a placement survey (with accompanying instructions) and an evaluation form.
The evaluation form may help the search because it helps everyone to agree ahead of time about the performance factors on which the youth minister will be evaluated. It also helps to agree about when these evaluations are going to occur. We all know that evaluation is going to happen. The only question is whether it will be driven by standards and calendar, or whether it will be driven by crisis. And according to Scripture, we should welcome evaluation anyway: “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.” (Proverbs 12:1, NIV) While we’re on the topic, why not extend the evaluation process to others in the parish besides the youth minister? For instance, how about the other staff (including clergy) and the church board? Maybe this would be a strategic time for your church to discuss how to build sound evaluation processes into the whole church.
2) A great place to start your search online
If you’re going to look for a youth minister or a job in youth ministry, you’ve got to sign up with the job search site at Youth Specialties. They have people and churches of all denominations. They’ve taken over this search function the way that Google has taken over searching the web. So click here for Youth Specialties’ Job Bank: http://www.youthspecialties.com/jobs/
3) A great option to seriously consider

Do you have someone in your church that could do the job if only they got first-rate training? There’s a huge connection between getting training and success in youth ministry.
